What We Do
The Literacy Coalition of Central Texas is dedicated to supporting and expanding high-quality literacy services so that businesses can hire, people can work, and families can thrive. The Coalition plays a central role in coordinating and supporting high-quality literacy services throughout Central Texas.

The central purpose of a coalition is to support, coordinate and expand otherwise fragmented community efforts toward service provision, advocacy, and civic engagement. The Literacy Coalition supports and expands high quality literacy services in the central Texas region by mobilizing partnerships and increasing local attention and resources for our community’s increasing literacy needs.  The Literacy Coalition serves over 55,000 individuals through its member organizations.

What is Literacy?
The definition of literacy has evolved from "the ability to read and use printed materials at an extremely basic level" to "using printed and written information to function in society, to achieve one's goals and to develop one's knowledge and potential" (2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy).

What areas do we serve in Central Texas?
You can access our literacy services if you live in Travis County, Bastrop County, Caldwell County, Hays County, or Williamson County.
