For adults seeking to join the workforce or change careers, inadequate test scores due to low literacy skills can be a serious obstacle. To address this challenge, the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas joined forces with Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFSCA) to create a collaborative bridge to opportunity, ensuring that no individual gets left behind in their pursuit of a better future!

This program operates through an integrated referral tool, ensuring a sustainable bridge between our and WFSCA’s programs. This system prevents individuals from “stopping out” due to low test scores, and offers targeted literacy support to make them eligible for desired training programs. We collaborate through regular meetings, discussing students’ progress, and conduct training sessions for staff members to embed the bridge program within both organizations.

This program acts as a bridge between our adult literacy programs and WFSCA’s workforce training programs, offering critical literacy assistance for individuals seeking to join the workforce. While our program initially focused on near-eligible clients who were close to passing but fell short on enrollment tests, our program has expanded to offer assistance for individuals at any level of eligibility! We offer accelerated literacy remediation, extended literacy remediation, and GED support for students who must obtain a high school equivalency.

This collaborative bridge program between the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas and WFSCA empowers adults seeking new careers by addressing literacy barriers. Through targeted remediation and support, individuals overcome adult education challenges and smoothly transition back into workforce training. We’re committed to ensuring that everyone can achieve their goals in pursuit of a rewarding career.
