Our Job Readiness Program is for anyone looking for a better job, entering the workforce for the first time, or re-entering the workforce after some time off. The program is designed to help our students obtain and retain gainful employment.

The curriculum has three main components:

1) Computer literacy. Students will learn Computer Basics, Windows 7 operating systems, Internet Basics, Email Basics, and Microsoft Word and Excel. We are able to accommodate students at all levels of computer literacy, from beginners to advanced computer users.

2) Finding a job. This includes resume writing, cover letter writing, and mock interviewing. We encourage our students to research different career paths and also assist with the job search process.

3) Workplace math. This part is designed for students to brush up on math skills that they may need to use in their jobs on a day-to-day basis.

Soft skills such as communication, professionalism, assertiveness and stress management are infused throughout the curriculum in the form of empowerment sessions.

SPARK offers one-on-one or small group tutoring for beginning adult readers. Twice per week sessions are scheduled to meet the needs of the student. These sessions focus on reading only.

Adult Basic Education classes are for students who test at a pre-GED level on the initial placement exam that we give during the enrollment process. This placement test, known as the Test of Adult Basic Education, focuses only on reading and math. Students that test between a third and eight grade level will start in our Adult Basic Education classroom.

Once students have successfully completed Adult Basic Education, as determined by a periodic testing of their progress, they are able to continue in our GED classes or our Job Readiness Program.

Our Adult Basic Education and GED programs are offered during the daytime and in the evening.

Daytime classes are held Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-3:00pm. Evening classes are held Monday-Thursday from 5:30pm-9:00pm. Students can choose the schedule that works best for them.
