parents and little scholars (PALS)
PALS, our family education program, is offered in partnership with community-based literacy service providers to offer classes in Austin, Manor, Del Valle, and Pflugerville. Through 14 weekly sessions with parenting coaches, parents and caregivers of young children learn how to support their children’s cognitive and social-emotional development, while their children receive early literacy and school-readiness instruction.
In PALS, parents learn how to:
- Increase your child’s vocabulary
- Get your child excited for school
- Improve your child’s self-esteem
- Effectively communicate with your child
In PALS, children learn how to:
- Follow a school routine
- Socialize with other children
- Develop fine motor skills
- Build early literacy skills
Program Details
- PALS classes are FREE!
- Semester-based program, starting in fall and spring
- Parents and their children attend 14 weekly 2-hour sessions
- Children 18 months to 4 years old may register with one parent or guardian
- Classes are available in English and Spanish
PALS also offers:
English as a Second Language classes
After completing our signature family education program, or as an entry-way to our PALS classes, parents with children children 0-5 years old are invited to register for our PALS English as a Second Language course. Our in-house, evidence-based curriculum is community responsive and guided by local families’ needs. The English classes support parents with the English language skills needed for engaging with their children’s schools and doctors, their jobs, and the community – all based off the PALS curriculum.

Career Development for all PALS students
PALS students have access to career development coaching including: career exploration, job search strategies, digital profile building, resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, and more.
Our integrated program is a pathway to success for parents and families!
