In 2010, the Literacy Coalition recognized the need for a report containing streamlined, accurate, and current data on literacy-related needs in Central Texas.

Literacy in Central Texas: a Snapshot of Conditions is a two-part review of the need for literacy services and capacity of service providers.

Part one considers data from the 2007 and 2008 American Community Survey, the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy.

For part two, the Literacy Coalition surveyed Central Texas literacy service providers and compiled their responses to find overlaps and gaps in literacy service delivery.
