Texas Workforce Commission

The general web address for the Texas Workforce Commission is http://www.twc.state.tx.us/. This website contains great information on searching for jobs, opportunities to receive training, and so on, at the state level. If you are interested in receiving notices of new Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from the Texas Workforce Commission, follow the process outlined below.

You can subscribe to TWC RFPs using the following link:

1. Enter your email address.
2. Click the Submit button.
3. Scroll down to the topic heading “Doing Business with TWC”.
4. Check the box next to “Requests for Proposals”.

ProLiteracy

ProLiteracy provides great information and resources for adult educators. Information on Advocacy, Professional Development, and Instructional Materials can all be found on their website. Go to https://www.proliteracy.org to learn more.

ProLiteracy has also released several White Papers on topics around adult literacy, which you can find by clicking here: https://www.proliteracy.org/Resources/White-Papers. For those of you interested in fundraising, grantwriting, and/or advocacy around literacy, the white paper “The Case for Investment in Adult Basic Education” should be of particular interest. Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS)

LINCS has some great opportunities to interact with other professionals in adult education through their Communities of Practice, online professional development opportunities, and resources for adult educators, and program staff and leadership. Go to https://lincs.ed.gov/ to learn more.

Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE)

A national organization on adult basic education. Has an annual conference every spring. Involved in advocacy at the national level. Frequently offers webinars on a variety of topics related to advocacy, program administration, and instruction. Go to https://www.coabe.org/ to learn more.

TexTESOL Region III

Our regional TESOL affiliate. Holds an annual regional conference, along with other events periodically throughout the year. Go to http://www.textesol3.org/ to learn more.

Literacy Texas

Literacy Texas is a statewide literacy coalition. They host an annual conference and provide professional development opportunities throughout the year. Go to https://literacytexas.org/ to learn more.

TrainPD at the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning

The statewide Professional Development and Resource Center for adult education and literacy in Texas. Delivers training, informational resources, and other support to TWC funded programs throughout Texas. Go to http://tcall.tamu.edu/ to learn more.
